Light coconut – a nice light oil, easily absorbed into the skins dermal layers. It can sooth the skin without blocking pores. Coconut oil contains skin-nourishing fatty acids and polyphenols, which make it a great carrier oil for massage oils and skin care preparations.

What are carrier oils?

Carrier oil, also known as base oil or vegetable oil, is used to dilute essential oils and absolute before they are applied to the skin in massage and aromatherapy. They carry the essential oil into the skin. They do not contain concentrated aroma, unlike essential oils. Ogam Aromatherapy offers a range of 6 different carrier oils, each with various therapeutic properties. Choosing an oil will depend on the area being massaged, the presenting conditions and the client’s sensitivity or requirements.
